COURCHEVEL RESORT INFORMATION

a mountain view
spacerJF Marin
This vast and inviting ski resort is made up of four different areas each with its own distinctive personality.

The resorts are named after the height of the resort; 1850, 1650, 1550 La Tania (1350m) and Le Praz (1300m) which for reasons unknown to us are generally known by their original names.
Patric Pachod
1850
There is no doubt that Courchevel 1850 is the smartest and most expensive of the four resorts. It has a wonderful choice of 4 star luxe and 4 star hotels and boasts some of the best hotels in the Alps.
However it also has some good quality hotels at the lower end of the market as well as a superb collection of catered chalets, self-catered chalets and apartments. So, if 1850 is where you want to be then don't be put off.

There is definitely something for everyone!

Here is where the choice of shops are, from ski shops to shops selling beautiful clothes and jewellery, as well as local Savoyard products and food. Everything you need is here; banks, chemists, petrol station, optician, laundrette, video hire. (search under Resort Info).

There are numerous restaurants and bars all within walking distance from the centre of the resort. The choice is prolific from gourmet restaurants to pizzas and crepes. Look out also for restaurants serving traditional Savoyard faire.

1650 (Moriond)
Courchevel 1650 was originally the area of Moriond. It is much smaller than 1850 and less chic but also less expensive. It is built along the roadside but boasts some good ski runs, nice shops and a busy social scene.

1550 (Courchevel)
This is the real Courchevel and although comprises of mainly modern buildings it does has a sort of village feel to it. It has everything you need here and some good bars and restaurants and of course linked to the 3 Valleys! It is a great resort for families.

Le Praz (1300)
This is a lovely, cosy, Savoie working village, with very few modern buildings. It seems to have retained all of its traditional character. It has a busy social scene particularly in the evenings. There is a great choice of bars and restaurants and some ski shops. Access to slopes is a few minutes by an old egg shaped coloured gondola but the run down can get tricky when icy.

La Tania (1350)
La Tania is a modern and relatively new resort and although does not have all the amenities of the other resorts it does have a modest selection of bars and shops. It has a number of restaurants at least two of which are highly rated. It is a superb resort for skiing in/out and access to the slopes. It is great for families, self- catering, budget holidays and has a wide choice of catered chalets.
